Motvind was established in 2016 to raise awareness about shady businesses sponsoring central cultural events in Norway, and to contribute to a more sustainable and including culture. We don´t think you have to rely on arms dealers and oil companies, or to charge up to 150 EUR for a day pass , to give people amazing music. This year´s festival runs over three days, and presents music from Greece, Turkey and Niger, as well as defining and upcoming musicians from the Norwegian and international scenes for jazz, impro, folk- and contemporary music.

as a comment and reaction to what is currently happening at KOngsberg JAzzfestival — being sponsored by the weapenindustry… (!!!) and Kongsbergsgruppen.

That culture workers and musicians play at Kongsbergfestival is a shame… unless they actively demonstrate during sets… or/ and  related activities….. but to have a Jazz festival being sponsored by a weapon producer and exporter is … in my world… very WRONG!
