an amazing amazing document by master McPhee. all on alto (-sax and -clar )….he is a monster. this music is HEAVY… it doesnt get heavier… totally FANFUCKINTASTIC! hand painted cover….mmmmmmh….
*Masayuki Takayanagi – The new direction Unit – AXIS / Offbeat
this is the SHIT! totally mindblowing session… one of the best… ultimate guitar treatment. TOTALLY GREAAAAAAAAT!
*Inge Brandenburg – Its alright with me / CBS, Germany
Inge´s first 12″, from 1965 with Gunter Hampel Quartet…. with a young Bobo Stenson at the keys… oi oi oi… this is quiet a surprise. really great and adventerous at the same time steady in the tradition. vibes and piano is KILLIN! and Inge´s dark voice hits nice spots in the heart…rare like hens teeth, but wort going for!
*Jan Johansson – M / Megafon
the CLASSIC… the CLASSIC… this is the swedish LP you all should have…an amazing document with some sensational early attempts of free improsvised music, conducted by Johansson. One of the most amazing piano players worldwide, but even more a musical mind of few comparishment. I listened to this one so many times… and it surprises me all the time… all the time… a BEAUTY of a double LP… a BEAST of BEAUTY!!!!
*John Edwards & Chris Corsano – TSKTSKING / Dancing Wayang
a GREAT new LP of imrpovised duets of bass and drums… liners by the one and only Mr Parker. ( and liners are great…).unusual format with two great improvisers. One of the best records of free in a loooooong time.
*The Werner – Rosengren Swdish Jazz Quartert – Bombastica / jazzland
another CLASSIC swedish jazz lp… great tunes, mostly by Lars Werner. wonderful wonderful. and the drumming by Spångberg is poetry… pure msuical poetry! highly recommended!!!

*Sun Ra – Daddy´s Gonna tell you no lie – a saturn 7″ !!! killing doo woop arkestra insanity!
*the Plastic Cloud – shadows of your mind, a Allied records 7″…. amazing early garage… amazing….
* Something Wild – Trippin´out on Psychadelic Records!!!! man oh man, this 45 has been on the top of my list for a couple of years now… the vinyl of the year! this is the BOMB!!!!

*The Millenium – Begin (are you kidding me ??? this is a masterfuckinpiece of music! – it has it all!!!!, cant believe it… I finally found the 1st pressing of this monster!!!)
*The Golden Dawn – Power Plant… wow… wow… fuckin hell…. never heard of before… absolute chock! “five young men, with a powerful message” as it says on the beautiful sleeve. amazing garage / psych insanity!!!!

a very very young Hammett(Hamiett) Bluett (Bluiett) on baritone sax. must be the first (?) recording of this GREAT baritone player! Honking and bluesing around in late 50´s horn & organ based rock outing!
very rare record almost to the extent of being unknown ( to me at least…). thank god I have two copies…
very very interesting and swining like MAD! please check out the solo monster LP by Bluiett: Birthright on India Navigation. that is a MONSTER solo record! breathtaking at least…
*Clint Jackson – Mother Africa – Palm 9
A real Free Jazz killer from a Jef Gilson produced session in Paris in 1974. with my alto fav Byard Lancaster ripping the flesh out of the air! never seen this one before… Thanx Henrik for getting it for me.Lancaster is really something else! his tone is the SHIT!
*Paul Gonsalves – boom-jackie-boom-chick – vocalion LAE 587
the man on tenor sax. THE MAN! a record I have been listening to every day for two months now. this is JAZZ… JAZZ!!! Gonsalves´s tone is inside… inside everything… and at the same time, just freakin outside. moving freely… improvising !!! and in great british company! To bad I only have this LP in a japanese pressing! anyone that wants to get rid of his original pressing ?
and what a title !!! “I should care” is treated with so much love… its almost painful. BEAUTIFUL!!!
*PJ HARVEY – 4 track demos – Island LP
well…. this is raw… raw and naked. I have no words for this music.I finally found the original pressing of this masterpiece. yes, its a fuckin masterpiece! just because its so raw and in a way “not” ready… but IT IS! No safety nets here! why cant more musicians be more daring and try the same “demo” idea like Polly Jean, I think that would be really interesting on many layers. with the original “naked” cover. this is truly a GEM! HIGHLY recommended!
*Lars Lystedt Sextet – Jazz Under the Midnight Sun – Swedisc LP 10
One of the true KILLER records of swedish jazz. A group from Umeå ( my hometown iy happens to be …;)) playing with all their guts and fantasy! inspired by Mingus and alikes they are most of all creating their own Jazz. absolute amazing alto playing by Ulander and Sten Öbergs way of treating time and colour on the drums is just astonoshing! One of the best hidden secrets in European Jazz!!! Its a rare lp… but worth looking for! I promise!

Gunter Christmann, Paul Lovens, Marten Altena – Weavers – Po Torch 7 / absolutely insane free improvised music with everything you need in music; action, space, phrasing and sense of form. an absolute MASTERFUCKINPIECE!!!! ( I had the pleaseure of playing with Lovens and Christmann this week in Hannover… nothing could be better… The focus and dedication these two masterplayers has is without compare… I kid you not!!! )
Bill Callahan – Sometimes I wish we Were An Eagle – Drag City / the ultimate song record by Callahan. what we have been waiting for since the Red Apple Fall LP. beautiful… just beautiful…
but please check out swedish Freddie Wadling… there is some elements in Callahan´s record that really remindfs me of the great Wadling moments in Cortex and Blue For Two and other great swedish groups from the past
Ida Maria – Fortress round my heart – mercury / a surprise of many during the tour w the thing in the US and canada… picking up vinyl all over the place… the cover made me curious. And the fact this is a Swede that I didnt know about… fanfuckintastic voice and really great songs. and the production is real cool to. I like!!!
Wyrd Visions – Sigill – VOID 009-1 / !!! ??? what is this… another record found at great record store “Rotate this” in Toronto!!! is he singing in swedish ? yes , he is… and why…really fuckin brilliant record… slow acoustic metal. fahey/ o rourke gitarr and great voice. music I have never heard… anything like it. very cool! beautiful printed cover, lim ed of 350…
Serge Chaloff – Blue serge – Capitol / one of he greatest records of recorded jazz…. YES, it is! together with Lars Gullin my absolute fav among bari players. and this record KILLS! it has everything… everything that JAZZ should be about. The Rhytm section of Sonny Clark, philly Joe and Vinnegar has never been better. This is a piece of vinyl that I always comes back to… EVERYY WEEK! makes me smile – makes me fly!
Wenderlea Maravilhosa - Polydor ( brasil ) / oh oh oh … I got this amazingly fucked up music at Trolpicaliana in Furs in NYC some weeks ago.. its been spinning since then. It is one of the most amazing mixes ever. oh my god… tropicaliana, funk, soul, pop…call it whatever u like. but it sounds like nothing else. seriously… this is ROCKIN! ( not in the way we are used to, but anyway… )
Demetrio Stratos – Cantare la Voce – Cramps / ok…. this is a serious piece of music… a voice that freakin KILLS anything in its way… like nothing else. cant really compare it with anything… but it goes into your system like Ripley´s Alien. amazing… just amazing…. solo

PJ Harvey & John Parish – Black Hearted Love – Island / she is back again… in another great collab w John parish. and it twist my mind again… the lyrics… the voice… its the SHIT! sorry about the expression… but , this is the SHIT!
Lars Gullin – Freedom – Falk 102 / the holy grail for Gullin collectors. the lost piano recording that Gullin made very late in his career on a religous label in Sweden… the piano pieces of Gullin are just amazing. simple and very touching! the b-side with the biblical choir is… something different… oh oh ohjjj….
Betty LaVette – He made a woman out of me – Silver Fox / yes YES YES! Betty is doing it! and this song anf the b-side (nearer to you) is amazing songs. aaaaaah YES!!!! fantastic!
The Hentchmen – the breather – a happy hour record / another great garage 45 by the hentchmen. organ, guitar and drums in a very trashy mix with NERVE and balls! just freakin great! why are no one doing this kind of kickass gagare muisc any more ?
