after some years of discussions and debates and more.

The great jazz festival Kongsberg Jazz festival with its rich heritage  has finally stopped  the sponsorship

from the weapon and munition producing company “Kongsbergs Gruppen”. it is OVER!

The Motvind organisation and Andrea Röysum has been very active in this ! CHEERS AND SALUTI!

Motvind has the following to say:

We want to applaud Kongsberg Jazzfestival for taking the important decision to end their  sponsorship deal with Kongsberg Gruppen. We are looking forward to seeing this historically important and artistically progressive festival bloom in the years to come – with Motvind members both in the audience and on stage.

Since it´s debut in 2016 Motvind has challenged tendencies in the cultural sphere where regards to important ethical questions are subjected to quick and easy profit.

A lot of attention has been given to the debate about Kongsberg Gruppen, who for the last two hundred years have produced and exported weapons and munitions, and their sponsorship of Kongsberg Jazzfestival. That Kongsberg Jazzfestival now choose to end their deal with Kongsberg Gruppen is an important cultural event that hopefully will get a lot of attention, and inspire to further positive change. As we all know so well, it is still a lot of work that remains to be done!

We also humbly hope that the work that has been done with the Motvind festival, record label and magazine can be a source of inspiration for someone out there. The festival was started by three young music enthusiasts who wanted to make a change. Sustainable culture, in the broadest sense of the word, is built downward up.
